Romantic Getaway at the Delamar Hotel

A Luxurious Romantic Retreat

THE DELAMAR HOTEL

Valentines Day is around the corner and hubby and I have the most perfect detailed recommendation for you! A a couple weekends ago, hubby and I enjoyed an incredibly relaxing overnight stay at The Delamar Hotel perfectly located in Blue Back Square in West Hartford, Connecticut. It was such a welcomed experience as I am going through the ringers adapting to the upgrade in my career. In addition, the hubby and I are so busy trying to create the life we imagine that we haven’t been spending a lot of quality time together so it was a well welcomed romantic excursion.

Between the simple beauty of the property and the top of the line hospitality, we were not short of anything there. During our stay, we dined in house at Artisan Restaurant where we enjoyed more than delightful cuisine. In addition, I got to enjoy a relaxing morning at The Delamar Spa which was such a magical and incredibly professional experience. It certainly set the tone for the romance we were missing in our day to day lives. This is the perfect place for romantic couples’ excursion; especially now as we are in the season of love.

THE ACCOMMODATION

Of the 114 rooms and 7 different room styles in this hotel, our room was set on the 4th floor overlooking the garden and came suited with a patio with lounging for two. The deluxe king room bed came outfitted with neutral colored linens and bedding accented with velour teal cushions and faux fur throw. As someone who is obsessed with the feel and quality of bedding, I’m always searching for comfortable cotton sheets and a down duvet which is exactly what we got. As a special touch, we were welcomed with a bottle Pinot Noir, a cheese and fruit plate, as well as a lovely note from the hotel staff. These are the small special touches that really added to the overall experience. In addition, there was a mini bar outfitted with the finest treats and best wine/liquor selection afforded to a mini bar as well as a coffee machine by Nespresso.

Our view was nothing less that spectacular. Although the garden is not in season at the moment, it was still refreshing to overlook the grounds of the property. The coastal vibe of the room truly amplified the New England aesthetic and it felt like we were on the shoreline sans the crisp salty air; certainly not 10 minutes from our home. This may be weird, but I’m a bathroom girl. Walking into the bathroom gave me old Hollywood, almost Tiffany Blue vibes. The bathroom was clean and pristine; outfitted with simple but elegant fixtures such as the marble tiled shower, backlit mirror, soft and plump towels, and most notably, the Bvlgari toiletries stocked for our use. And just across the hall in a closet, two plush robes and slippers await.

When it comes to romance and creating a romantic ambiance, the subtle luxury and distinct charm of this room really set the tone. For a special evening like Valentines day or any other romantic getaway, this would be your perfect destination. Scroll down for more…

ARTISAN RESTAURANT

Nothing says romance like Créme Brûlée and Rosé enjoyed over candle light. Whether dining in the casual tavern, with your private party in the The Copper Room, or a finer experience in the upscale main dining room, Artisan Restaurant offers a delectable, curated fine country American meets Parisian menu that warms the heart and speaks to the soul. In addition, in warmer months, Artisan boasts a beautiful patio overlooking a bountiful garden which the restaurant sources from in harvest months. Hubby and I dined in the Tavern which sets a relaxed and warm atmosphere. Help yourself, and make sure you get reservations. Due to this restaurant’s popularity, it can be a bit difficult to walk in and get a table right away especially on a weekend night.

Hubby and I happened to dine at Artisan during West Hartford Restaurant Week. For those who are unaware, during this week, restaurants within West Hartford create prix fix tasting menus fro $20, $30, and $40. Typically, they come with a starter, an entree, and a dessert. Hubby had the Rueben Soup served with a cheese crostini, the Chicken Paprikash (which was the most spectacular), and a banana split for dessert. I had a mixed green salad to start served with a fresh juice shooter (which was strange but welcomed) and the Artisan Pot Roast which was braised short rib set on roasted root vegetables with a delightful red wine sauce that brought the dish together. Of everything we had that evening, the Chicken Paprikash was most delightful. It was braised chicken simmered in mouth-watering sauce served over a wide pasta cooked al dente topped with a salty hard cheese (romano or parmesan). This dish was the absolute delight of our experience. The wait staff were attentive, the atmosphere was vibrant, and the cocktails were decadent. I highly recommend dining at the Artisan Restaurant.

AMENITIES

You can tell that this hotel takes hospitality very seriously. From the moment you enter the hotel, every single staff member greets you with a smile and a kind hello. When you pull in, a valet staff member unloads your bags, and arranges with the doorman to take your bags. You are welcomed into a gorgeous lobby with custom furnishings throughout. It certainly is a beautiful commencement to the luxurious experience you are about to partake in. At the reception, you are greeted with a smile, a kind hello, and an offer for a glass of Prosecco or bottled water. Just through the lobby, is my favorite room which I’ve nicknamed “Moody Room” for its matte dark navy walls. There you can relax and enjoy a hot beverage from the Espresso machine whilst reading or simply people watching. In the lobby, there is also a florist Lane and Lenge and a custom clothier suite called Connecticut Custom Clothing Company. So you don’t have to leave the hotel to create the atmosphere needed to make your romantic getaway special.

In addition, The Delamar offers suites that have patios overlooking the garden as well as some that have a beautiful free standing tub set in a well lit but private room that can be customized per your request (i.e- please have a warm bath with red rose petals ready when we arrive with a bottle of champagne and two glasses). In addition, there is complimentary: continental breakfast, champagne at check in, car service within a 5 mile radius to the hotel, valet parking, fitness center access suited with peloton bikes, access to a class at The Yoga Shop (which I was privy to a community The Yoga Shop event during my stay), and admission to the New Britain Museum of Art. Additionally, there are several meeting rooms with beautiful accommodations for corporate events. Furthermore, The Delamar boasts a large ballroom overlooking a an expansive terrace for weddings and other similar events. As you can see, The Delamar is committed to creating the best experience for their guests as displayed by the fine attention to detail we saw throughout our entire stay.

THE SPA
The Delamar Spa is a refreshing and soul completing experience set on the second level of The Delamar Hotel. Although I did this alone, The Delamar offers rooms that accommodate “couples massages”. After experiencing The Delamar Massage I am convinced that this is the only gift I want for the rest of my life. Truth be told, it was my very first spa experience not counting nail spas of course and I left feeling like a million dollars.

The lobby of the spa is simple and beautiful and speaks to the overall aesthetic of the Delamar but shades a world of relaxation hidden within. Upon arrival, you are led into the spa where you fill out a short questionnaire in regards to your health. It is a breathtakingly beautiful lounge set with neutral tones characterized by textures and metallics. The center of the room is a beautiful white orchid which represents innocence, beauty, and elegance (I know this because of the wedding last year). If you come into this space with heavy emotional baggage and misaligned energy, just the setting begins to strip away that negativity and you are overwhelmed with need for clarity. Everything is clean and fresh; neat and tidy. You are welcomed by your therapist who leads you into your massage room and gives you simple and clear instructions; also asks if there are problem areas that need more attention than others- such as my upper back. The therapist is incredibly professional and utilizes progressive measures throughout your therapy to relieve pressure, apply pressure on the problem areas. It is MAGICAL! At the end of your session, you have the option to shower in the room but most importantly, you are offered hydration and a handful of snacks. I’ve never felt so relieved and relaxed in my life. I highly recommend The Delamar Spa especially for a couples massage which is what hubby and I have planned to do soon.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Blue Back Square boasts a bounty of restaurants, boutique shopping, specialty grocery, entertainment, and plenty more. The best thing is all of that is within a half mile radius of The Delamar Hotel. Additionally, Blue Back Square is right next door to the West hartford Center which offers some of the best dining in Central Connecticut such as BarTaco, Barcelona, Zohara, Grants Steakhouse, and more. Even better, West Hartford Center is just within walking distance of the Hotel. For many locals in Central CT, this is a major center for dining, shopping, art, entertainment, and business. The Delamar Hotel location is the biggest selling point in my personal regard because it is in the center of one of the most cherished neighborhoods with great access just about anything you can desire.

OVERALL RECOMMENDATION

Overall, hubby and I’s experience was absolutely amazing. A very special thank you to the team at The Delamar Hotel in West Hartford, CT for accommodating us and doing so, incredibly well. Although we both have been to several hotels, high and low, we have never experienced such incredible hospitality. From the moment we entered, every single staff member (guest services to housekeeping) were incredibly kind, greeted us with a smile, and always made sure we were comfortable. I don’t know about you, but for a romantic weekend, I want to have the assurance that I can just completely check out of life and its worries and check in, wholeheartedly to love. Happy Valentines Day loves! Until next time…big bisous!
